76% of TA Leaders Expect to Replace Their Primary Recruiting Platform Within Two Years — Tech Stack Churn Accelerates
The News
Despite 82% of recruiters expressing satisfaction with their current systems, 76% say they expect to replace their primary recruiting platform within two years, according to Employ Inc.’s 2025 benchmark report. The apparent contradiction reveals a market in transition: TA leaders are satisfied with what their platforms do today but don’t believe they’ll keep pace with what AI will require tomorrow.
The Employ report also found that 65% of recruiters now use AI in their workflows, and 67% of TA leaders plan to increase technology spending in the coming year. Notably, candidate quantity has overtaken candidate quality as the top priority for the first time in two years — more than half of recruiters said getting more candidates per role is their primary focus.
AI adoption is accelerating alongside a shift toward “responsible AI” — with talent teams increasingly considering data privacy, human oversight, and explainability as part of their investment decisions. Stephanie Manzelli, CHRO at Employ, framed it as a maturity curve: “Organizations are striking a new balance, leveraging automation for efficiency while protecting fairness, transparency and connection.”
Why It Matters
This data point — 76% planning to replace their platform — should be a boardroom-level flag for every ATS and CRM vendor. But for TA leaders, it represents something more practical: an opportunity. If your current platform contract is up for renewal in the next 18 months, you have leverage you haven’t had in years. Vendors know their customers are shopping.
The key is knowing what you’re looking for. The Employ data suggests that “responsible AI” capabilities — transparency, bias testing, explainability — are moving from nice-to-have to table stakes. If your current vendor can’t articulate how their AI makes decisions, that’s a reason to look elsewhere. If they can’t integrate with the other 5-10 platforms in your stack, that’s another.
